Watch out, readers. Remember how you worked so hard to get everything planted? Get out those shears and scissors. Put on your most flexible garden gloves. We have now entered the time of garden editing. Here’s a link to my favorite digging fork to edit out rude perennials like some of my asters.
In this week's episode, Carol and I expounded upon irises other than the bearded ones. Watch out for the very beautiful yet invasive yellow flag iris, I. psuedocarus. It’s become a real problem almost everywhere. For your pleasure, here is Eden Bros's guide for growing Siberian irises. You can now also order reticulated irises from Brent and Becky’s Bulbs. You can also find seeds for the native I. missouriensis for sale from Eden Bros.
We’re both in the process of tying up our tomatoes, so our vegetable topic was tomato support. Here’s Carol’s article on supporting tomatoes in FH, and you can find my rubberized wire ties too. Listen to the podcast for more ideas on growing and supporting your tomato crop.
On our Bookshelf is a fine book Carol truly enjoyed. Back to the New Basics: A practical guide and reference manual to the ways, the whys, and the news sciences of better, easier gardening, by Joe Seals, is a helpful manual for almost anyone. (Amazon Link)
While Carol was reading, I went to a farm dinner at the Living Kitchen Farm & Dairy. Here’s a sneak peek! It was wonderful.
My rabbit hole was revisiting Central Texas Gardener’s television show. Then, Carol went and found the ancient episode of CTG with me. Carol is still in her flower-pounding rabbit hole. I will not be joining her there. Listen to hear why.
And now the business-y stuff.

Hi Dee and Carol! First of all, I want to say I love the editing idea. I have never heard it called that before. I will be editing the next few days after I finish planting my flowers today! And I’m listening to your podcast and one other thing I want to say is that I am Mrs. Deri David, I am a female. Lol! Y’all have a wonderful gardening day!
