Good morning friends and subscribers! We’re back with another episode in our alphabet series, talking about dahlias, dianthus, dill, dragons, and more.
Wait—dragons? Read on to learn more.
From Carol’s update this past week, we have two links: Peony’s Envy and Abby’s Garden Parties. Carol bought a Pink Baroness Schroeder peony.
One of my updates was the new concrete urns I bought from Ruth at BloomingVintage OK. If you’re local to me, you should follow Ruth. She is the most creative thrifter I know.
Then, on to our flower topic which was dahlias, dianthus, and Dichondra ‘Silver Falls,’ dahling! If you want to learn more about dahlias, we suggest you check out the American Dahlia Society.
Our vegetable topic also started with “D.”
We discussed dill, Dragonfly peppers—an All-American Selection from 2022—and Dragon's Tail radishes from Burpee. See those dragons now?

On the bookshelf, we featured The Big, Bad Book of Botany: The World’s Most Fascinating Flora by Michael Largo (Amazon link). Carol saw it at a bookstore and picked up a copy from her library, then ordered a copy for herslef.
Our dirt was about another dragon. It’s Longan or Dragon's Fruit. I have an interesting story about it.
My rabbit hole was inspired by rue.dauphine.paris. Listen to the podcast to hear what I bought.
Carol went down a rabbit hole about Flannery O’Connor. She just bought Good Things Out of Nazareth: The Uncollected Letters of Flannery O’ Connor and Friends, edited by Benjamin B. Alexander, PhD
Here’s the link to register for the Herb Society of America's program presented by Carol on Lost Ladies of Herbal and Garden Writing (April 22).
There’s also a bonus segment in our YouTube video about Carol’s copy of Jane Austen’s Garden: A Botanical Tour of the Classic Novels by Molly Williams and Jessica Roux by (Amazon link)
