I read the title of this week’s newsletter, and I thought, “Isn’t that the truth?” It’s definitely been one giant experiment in my garden this year. I’m glad things are slowing down, but we need rain. Carol does too.
On this week’s episode, we chatted about fothergilla shrubs, vegetable gardening preferences and confessions, and more.
I could sure use some armadillo tips. They are driving me nuts. I also said I would show my ugly baptisia so here it is. The caterpillars got to it, and I don’t even care.
Carol and I have been saving seeds. I saved zinnias and wrote a post on my Zinnia favorites. Carol wrote a blog post from the garden fairies. We all enjoy those funny fairies. I also bought two new philodendrens.
Carol wanted to talk about fothergillas for a our flower topic. I can’t grow them. I’ve managed to kill two of them. Here is some info from Proven Winners. That fall color makes them definitely worth trying.
For our vegetable topic, we discussed our preferences for vegetable gardening and what we used to do versus what we do now. It was a fun topic.
On our bookshelf, we celebrated the reissue of Black Flora: Inspiring Profiles of Floriculture’s New Vanguard by Teresa J. Speight (Amazon Link.) We love Teri, and we’re so glad her book was picked up for republishing by Timber Press.
Although our dirt was 10 Creepy Plants to Haunt your House this Fall by Pistils Nursery, Carol and I didn’t think they were all that creepy. I think my ‘Raven’ ZZ plant is creepier.
That’s it for this week. For more information, go listen to the episode. Thanks so much!
