Let’s get the winter woes out of the way before we get into this week’s podcast episode!
Dee was sick, both Dee and I got some snow, Dee’s water pressure tank went out so she didn’t have water for a day, and then… Masha.
Masha, Dee’s cat, did this. Oh Masha!
I asked Dee if Masha was showing any remorse after knocking over this plant in its rather expensive Guy Wolff pot, and she said no, she was mostly curious.
Anyway, in spite of sickness, snowiness, and all the usual stuff that seems to make winter so hard, we managed to put together another podcast episode.
Listening to it, I realized we did a lot of “showing,” which doesn’t work so well with a podcast, so this week, and probably just this week, here’s a link to the actual Zoom recording if you want to see my new seeds, the book we featured, and really, the whole episode! Use this passcode when it asks: 7pT8+Udt
But please promise to remember I had just come in from shoveling snow off my driveway, so my hair looked like I was wearing a stocking cap because, well, I was. And no one edited this video because we didn’t.
Anyway, with all those caveats, I hope you enjoy it.
Now some links.
For our flower topics, it’s the Year of the Lily, according to the National Garden Bureau. If you want more info, check out their site, plus the North American Lily Society, this article I wrote on types of lilies for Family Handyman and Dee's blog post on lilies.
For veggies, we highlighted two more seed catalogs: Pinetree Garden Seeds and Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. You might also be interested in Dee's seed sleeves she uses to store her seeds.
On the bookshelf, we talked about The Wisdom of Flowers: Essential Life Lessons for Joy and Wellbeing by Liz Martin (Amazon).
For our dirt, we reviewed a list of Winter Words sent to us by Kathy of Cold Climate Gardening.
We went way off topic in our intro (Stanley cups, anyone?) and in our rabbit holes, giving you some insight into what we think about behind the scenes as we put together this newsletter and podcast. I hope you enjoy it!
